Thank you for your support of Lower Snake dam breaching. This is an extinction emergency for Snake River wild salmon and Southern Resident Orcas. Yard signs and stickers are important. They provide a visible presence to breaching the dams in our communities and at public events throughout the Northwest and beyond! And they make the public and powerful decision makers aware there is mounting pressure to urgently breach the dams. Although the Biden Administration, the Department of the Interior and NOAA have acknowledged that without breaching beginning immediately, wild salmon won’t recover, they have no plan to act now. Without urgency, their support for breaching rings hollow.
This Yard Sign campaign is designed to shine a light on the need to breach the four lower Snake River dams before it's too late.
Please share the campaign far and wide and encourage others to download the PDF, print and put signs up in publicly visible places.

Questions? info@damtruth.org
Why is breaching needed?
For millennia wild Snake River salmon sustained indigenous people, and helped sustain Southern Resident orcas and the more than 130 species that depend on salmon as a keystone species. But four dams constructed in the 1960’s and 70’s have decimated Snake River salmon runs. Now both Snake River salmon and Southern Resident orcas are heading for near term extinction. Federal Agencies, including NOAA and the Biden Administration agree that breaching the four dams is the only way to recover the salmon. But, there is no commitment to a timeline.
Why haven’t the dams been breached?

Politics keep the dams in place. At best, powerful Washington Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell support the dams to serve special interests, rather than the public interest. At worst, the senators are complicit in a disinformation campaign to hide the harm these dams cause wild salmon, the orcas, the Snake River ecosystem, and the entire region. Electricity blackouts and brownouts are threatened, if the dams are breached. In reality, greener wind and solar energy already is waiting to be tied into the region’s transmission grid when the dams are taken offline.
